3 of 5 stars. If you want to take out-of-town guests to a clean, touristy barbecue joint, then The Salt Lick is your place. However, most of us native Central Texans know that the best barbecue is found east of…

4 of 5 stars. This is a really tasty place, and get the all you can eat option. Not a 5 because I'm sure there is better, there's always some place better! Really liked it though.

5 of 5 stars. If heaven served BBQ, it would be Salt Lick. And the bees that contribute to the spicy, honey accented BBQ sauce (although you can get it non-spicy) would buzz their sweet song in your ears and never…

Worth The Drive

Part of Austin's legendary barbecue tradition, it's more than just the rustic, Hill Country setting when you go to Salt Lick. I like the aroma. It's a fabulous aroma. Once inside, I always get great taste from...

Great Flavor, but you're gonna need lots of paper towels....

One word describes Salt Lick....g-r-e-a-s-e. Great flavor, but all meats are greasy; which is better than too dry. The ribs are the worst. Sauce is "different" but good; more like a Tennessee or Georgia sauce....
